Nose Bleeds

Do you know how to treat nose bleeds?

Would you:
a. Insert cotton balls into nostrils until bleeding stops
b. Sit with head tilted back and pinch nose
c. Sit with head forward, pinch soft part of nose and apply cold compress

The answer:

c. After performing a primary and secondary assessment, get the casualty to sit for at least 10 minutes. Assist the casualty to lean forward to avoid blood flowing down the throat. Get casualty to pinch the soft part of their nostrils. Apply a cold compress to the forehead or back of neck. If bleeding continues after 20 minutes seek medical attention.
